FAQ

Everything a sensible person asks before spending money on a kitchen tool. Answered with numbers, not adjectives.

Ordering

Why is every product showing as sold out?

Because we have not opened yet. The shop is built, the range is set, and the stock is not on the shelf. Nothing here is a trick to make the range look scarce. When they are in, the buttons will work.

Can you tell me when something is back in stock?

Yes. Email hello@kensingtonlondon.com with the product name, and you will hear from a person the day it goes live. One email. Nothing else after it.

Can I change or cancel an order after I have placed it?

Usually. Your order is packed within one to two business days, so the window is short but real. Email your order number as soon as you can. If it has not gone into a box, you can change it or cancel it. If it has, it becomes a return, and you still have 30 days.

Do you take larger or wholesale orders?

Send the quantity and the products. You will get an honest answer about what can be supplied and when, rather than a cheerful yes to an order we cannot fill.

Delivery

How much is shipping?

Free on orders over $49.99. Under that, USPS rates are calculated against your address at checkout and shown before you pay. Nothing is added afterwards.

What happens if my order comes to just under $49.99?

You pay for shipping. We do not round it in your favour, and we would rather say so than have you find out at the last screen. Most two-product orders do not clear it. Only pairs that include the plant stand at $44.79 get there, and the cheapest of those is the plant stand with the bread lame at $54.78. The nearest miss is the cookie jar with the lemon squeezer at $49.10, which is 89 cents short.

How long will it take to arrive?

Packed in one to two business days. Delivered in three to seven after that, depending on where you are. So a Monday order is normally in your hands by the following week, not the following month.

When do I get a tracking number, and what is in the email?

The tracking email goes out the moment USPS scans your parcel, which is the same day it leaves us. It contains your order number, what is in the box, the USPS tracking number and a link that goes straight to the carrier's page. If it has not landed within two business days of your order, check the spam folder first, then email us.

My parcel is late, or the tracking has stopped moving. What now?

Email us with the order number. We chase the carrier, not you. You should not be on hold to USPS about a box we sent. If the parcel is genuinely lost, we replace it or refund it.

Do you ship outside the United States?

No. Not yet. We are a British brand selling in the US, which sounds like it should make international easy, and it does not. Customs paperwork, duties collected at your door and a return that costs more than the product are three problems worth solving properly rather than badly. Until you can see a landed price with no surprise bill on delivery, the order stays closed.

The products and their materials

What is available right now?

Everything on the shelf is grouped into three collections. More are on the way.

Product Collection Price
Bread Box for Kitchen Countertop with Bamboo Lid The Bakery $21.99
Stainless Steel Folding Pizza Peel, 10 inch The Bakery $16.99
Bread Lame Razor Cutter with Handle The Bakery $9.99
Glass Cookie Jar with Airtight Bamboo Lid, 76oz The Table $24.11
Metal Butter Dish with Bamboo Lid The Table $17.99 to $19.99
Large Lemon Squeezer, Stainless Steel The Everyday $24.99
Small Watering Can for Indoor Plants, 38oz The Everyday $19.99
Indoor Plant Stand with Pot The Everyday $44.79

What are they actually made of?

Steel, iron, glass and bamboo. The squeezer and the pizza peel are stainless steel. The butter dish has a weighted iron base. The cookie jar is glass. The bread box, the cookie jar and the butter dish are topped with bamboo. There is no plastic body anywhere in the range, and no painted coating on the squeezer that can chip off into your food.

How big a lemon does the squeezer take?

The cup is 3 inches across, and it takes half a large lemon or a whole small lime. It is built for halves, not for whole fruit. Cut across the middle, cut side down, and it clears the bowl every time. If you were hoping to drop a whole orange in, this is not that tool.

Will a standard stick of butter fit the butter dish?

Yes. The interior measures 6.1 by 4.2 inches, which takes a standard US stick lying flat with room to get a knife in beside it. Wide European blocks are a tighter fit and may need cutting in half. We would rather tell you that now than have it arrive wrong.

Is the pizza peel only 10 inches?

The head is 10 inches, and that is the honest number. It handles a personal or medium pie, sourdough loaves and flatbreads. It is not the tool for a 16-inch party pizza. The handle folds flat, so it hangs on a hook or slides into a drawer instead of leaning against the wall for a year.

How much do the cookie jar and the watering can hold?

The cookie jar is 76oz, which is a full batch of biscuits with the lid still closing properly. The watering can is 38oz, sized for windowsills, herbs and houseplants rather than a garden. If you have a courtyard to water, buy a bucket.

What is in each collection?

  • The Bakery: the bread box, the bread lame and the folding pizza peel. Everything between the dough and the table.
  • The Table: the butter dish and the cookie jar. The two things that sit out on show and should look like objects, not packaging.
  • The Everyday: the lemon squeezer, the watering can and the plant stand. The ones you pick up without thinking.

Care and cleaning

Can any of it go in the dishwasher?

The lemon squeezer is fully dishwasher safe. The butter dish base is dishwasher safe. Every bamboo lid should be rinsed and wiped by hand. Glass and steel take a machine cycle without complaint. Bamboo does not.

Why do the bamboo lids have to be hand-washed?

Because bamboo is a natural material and a dishwasher cycle cooks the moisture out of it. Hand-wash and dry a bamboo lid and it will serve you for years. Put it through the machine every week and it will dry out, lift at the grain and eventually split. We would rather be plain about it: the bamboo lids are a wear part, not a lifetime one, and that is why the guarantee treats them differently from the metal.

Will the metal stain or hold smells?

No. Stainless steel and coated iron do not absorb odour the way plastic does. A rinse is enough. That is the main reason we do not make any of this in plastic.

How do I look after the bread lame?

Wipe the blade dry immediately after scoring, and store it with the blade covered and out of reach of children. It is a razor with a handle, and it is sharp in a way a kitchen knife is not. Keep it dry and it stays sharp. Leave it wet in a sink and it will not.

Will the cookie jar keep biscuits crisp?

That is what the airtight bamboo lid is for. Seat it properly and it seals against the glass rim, so what goes in crisp comes out crisp. Press it down until it sits flush. Half-closed is not closed.

Guarantee and returns

What is covered, and for how long?

The stainless steel lemon squeezer carries a lifetime guarantee. Every other product carries two years against manufacturing faults. Bending, cracking, joints separating, rust on stainless parts and grips coming away are all covered.

How do I make a claim?

Email your order number and a photo of the fault. That is the entire process. You are not asked to post the item back at your own cost before we believe you, and you will have an answer within two business days.

What is not covered?

  • Cosmetic marks, scratches and the dulling that comes with years of use
  • Drops onto hard floors, and jobs the tool was never built for
  • Bamboo lids and boards, which age with washing and sunlight
  • Anything bought from a seller other than us

Can I return something I do not like?

Yes, within 30 days, unused and in its original packaging. You pay the return postage on a change of mind. We pay it when the fault is ours. Full detail is on the returns page.

When do I get my money back?

Refunds go to the original payment method within five to ten business days of your parcel reaching us. Your bank sets the last step, not us.

About us

Who are you?

A British kitchenware brand designing in the United Kingdom and selling in the United States. Small range, no seasonal drops, no gadget of the month.

Why such a short list?

Because a short list you keep beats a long one you replace. Each piece we put out exists because the common version of it has a specific, nameable fault. We would rather fix one fault properly than launch forty things a year.

Where are they made?

Designed in the United Kingdom. Manufactured overseas, to our specification and our materials. We are straightforward about that rather than dressing it up.

How do I reach a real person?

Email hello@kensingtonlondon.com. Monday to Friday, normally within one business day, and always within two. A person reads it and a person answers it.
